About the Role: Where Cyber Meets Code
The Associate Engineer I will work within Optiv’s AFC (Automation, Fusion, and Correlation) support team. Your key mission will be to support SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) platforms and contribute to automating incident response activities — making security operations smarter, faster, and scalable.
You’ll handle everything from health checks and troubleshooting to developing customized automation workflows using cutting-edge tools like Swimlane, Cortex XSOAR, and Splunk SOAR. It’s a unique blend of software development, scripting, and security.
Core Responsibilities
As part of your day-to-day work, you’ll:
- Design and implement SOAR solutions using industry tools like Swimlane, Tines, Splunk SOAR, XSOAR, etc.
- Identify repetitive manual SOC tasks and translate them into automated workflows.
- Collaborate with Senior Developers, SOC Analysts, and Service Delivery teams to automate incident response scenarios.
- Conduct proactive hunting to recognize event patterns that can be automated.
- Work with cloud and DevOps tools like AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
- Help document and evolve knowledge bases to support automation initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should bring the following:
- Education: BE/BTech/ME/MTech/MCA or equivalent in Computer Science or a tech-related field.
- Experience: 0–2 years in software/web development or security automation.
- Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in Python, NodeJS, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Security Automation: Familiarity with SOAR tools like Swimlane, XSOAR, and Splunk SOAR is an advantage.
- Database Skills: Strong command over SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
- CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, GitHub, or GitLab experience preferred.
- Communication: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Soft Skills: A strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to translate complex security processes into automated workflows.
Security background, scripting experience, and familiarity with REST APIs and data storage techniques are desirable.
